UPCOMING BLOGS

This month I will be doing blogs on regional and national rankings of boys and girls based on classes. This past August I did regional and national rankings for boys and girls regardless of the classes of the players. Stay tuned!

NO JUMP BALLS IN KENTUCKY

The KHSAA recently announced a rule change effective for this upcoming season in the Bluegrass State. Starting this season in November, all games will be begin with a coin toss to determine which team gets first possession. The coin toss would also be used for games that go into overtime. Due to COVID-19, the KHSAA felt this would give the officials more protection.

Other KHSAA rules update for basketball are that there will be no preseason scrimmages and the maximum number of teams in a tournament will be eight.

The top girls' 16 teams tournament in Kentucky is the Queen of the Commonwealth at Bullitt East High School in Mt. Washington, This tournament will now switch to two eight teams tournaments since Bullitt East High School has two gyms.

TENNESSEE UPDATE

The only major updates for Tennessee's boys since my last player rankings back in August are the following.

  • Jalen Brown, a 6-3 senior guard, has transferred across town from Memphis Wooddale to Memphis Tennessee Prep.
  • Jerrell Colbert, a 6-9 senior insider, transferred in to Germantown Houston from San Antonio Wagner, TX, to finish his senior year. Colbert has committed to play at LSU.

There are no major updates for Tennessee's girls at this point.
